Turkmenistan was represented at the EU-CA Conference on environmental issues
25.02.2023 | 13:46 |A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in the 7th EU-Central Asia High–level Conference on Environment and Water Resources, which ended in Rome.
The conference was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy. The participants got acquainted with the results of the work and achievements of the EU–CA Platform for Cooperation in the Field of Environment and Water Resources over the past three years, and also outlined further steps of interaction within the framework of the Platform for 2023-2025.
"Climate change is a global challenge, so it is necessary to find a solution to this problem, both at the global and regional level," said Terhi Hakala, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia.
At the end of the conference, the members of the delegations of the Central Asian countries, the European Union and the EU Member States responsible for policy development in the field of environment, climate change and water resources adopted the final document.
They welcomed the progress made by the Central Asian countries since 2019 in this area, and confirmed the need to continue the high-level dialogue between the EU and the Central Asian countries to address serious problems and growing threats to the environment.
Reaffirming the commitment of their countries to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, the participants also noted the need to intensify transboundary water cooperation.
