Oriented on making people closer

On Tuesday, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the site of the construction of the Makhtumkuli monument in the south of Ashgabat. The giant figure of the poet rose on a hill in the foothills of the Kopetdag, it is almost complete, but part of the huge statue is still in the scaffolding. At the same time, a park zone is being created around, which has become the subject of special attention of the head of state.

Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the arrangement of this territory, accompanied by members of the government. Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture and Environmental Protection Esenmurad Orazgeldiev informed about plans for landscaping this area and selection of tree species.

Charymurad Purchekov, Deputy Prime Minister for Construction and Energy, who also oversees the Ashgabat City Hall, presented illustrative projects of the entire cultural and park complex with an area of 13.5 hectares, its individual sites and facilities, infrastructure networks, including road and lighting.

The President voiced some remarks and corrections, emphasizing them on creating a harmonious ensemble, both from an artistic, aesthetic and environmental point of view, and from the standpoint of engineering and technological solutions of such a large-scale ensemble.

It should fit into the surrounding landscape of the foothills, become a man-made oasis in their natural landscape and at the same time correspond to the scope and ideological concept of the monumental park complex in honor of the great Turkmen poet.

Berdimuhamedov instructed to hold a tender for the improvement of this area and recommended to pay attention in search of innovative approaches to the proposals of young specialists and students of specialized universities. Also, during the inspection of the territory of the complex, it was about such design techniques as placing Makhtumkuli's quotes on the nearby hills using lighting.

The President said that during the upcoming autumn landscaping campaign, it will be necessary to carry out massive planting of trees, matched to the local soil and climatic conditions on a scientific basis.

The construction of the cultural and park complex Makhtumkuli Fragi with the improvement of the adjacent territories should be completed in 2022. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov suggested that its opening should be timed to the Week of Culture - an annual creative marathon starting on the eve of Day of Workers of Culture and Art of Turkmenistan and Poetry of Makhtumkuli Fraghi.

The opening ceremony of the monument and park will also mark the start of a series of major events in honor of the poet's 300th birthday, which the country will widely celebrate in 2024. In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan said that 2024 will be declared the Year of Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
