On October 22, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India, Bandar Wilsonbabu, who presented his credentials to the head of state.

Ambassador Bandar Wilsonbabu conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Indian President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The head of state, in turn, congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him success in expanding multi-faceted relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches paramount importance to strengthening strategic ties with India. Bilateral cooperation is successfully developing in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, transport, educational, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

Trade, economic, and energy sectors held special prominence on the agenda. In this context, Turkmenistan reaffirmed its position on accelerating the construction of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline.

The key role of TAPI and associated transport corridors in ensuring the region's energy security and providing a powerful impetus to the economic development of all participating countries was emphasized.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also noted the importance of cooperation in cultural, educational, and scientific spheres.

The head of state noted with satisfaction the growing interest in studying the Indian language, which is taught at one of the country's higher educational institutions. The development of these ties contributes to the mutual enrichment of cultures and the rapprochement of the peoples of Turkmenistan and India.
