Musical Friendship Bridge: Astrakhan heard Turkmenistan at the Caspian Seasons

On August 24, as part of the V International Festival of Classical Art "Caspian Seasons", the Astrakhan Philharmonic held a concert, which became a wonderful gift from Turkmenistan. The famous Guseynov creative family — opera diva Daria Guseynova, composer and pianist Mammed Guseynov and their talented young son Darius Guseynov — presented the richest musical culture of Turkmenistan.
The concert became a vivid testimony of the deep cultural ties between the peoples. The audience heard Turkmen folk songs such as "Bibijan", as well as classical works and songs from the national cinema.
Among them are Dovran's song from the movie "Dovran's Adventures" by composer Chary Nurymov and Aina's ballad from the movie "The Decisive Step" by Nury Khalmamedov.
The audience was particularly impressed by the cycle of compositions by Mammed Guseynov, whose melodies are distinguished by expressiveness, reverence and a colorful sound palette. The performance of 11-year-old Darius was no less striking. The young singer and pianist, a guest artist of the Moscow Helikon Opera Theater and the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, captivated the audience with his wonderful vocals and artistry.
The concert repertoire was specially selected taking into account the current year. According to Mammed Guseynov, 2025 has been declared the Year of Defender of the Fatherland in Russia, and the International Year of Peace and Trust in Turkmenistan. Therefore, the program included premiere works emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding, friendship and universal values.
"Astrakhan has become almost my hometown. I have participated in the Caspian Seasons several times and have always felt warmly welcomed by the audience. Today, many people came up to me and said that they remember my music, and this is very valuable for an artist," Mammed Guseynov admitted.
The evening ended on a lyrical note with the song "Beloved Eyes" from the movie "The Trick of Old Ashir", which became a symbolic conclusion to this warm and sincere performance.
The Guseynov family concert became a bright event in the cultural life of Astrakhan, once again proving that art is the most reliable bridge for strengthening friendship and cooperation between peoples.
