New Ambassador of Lithuania arrived in Ashgabat to take up his post
15.05.2025 | 23:55 |On May 15, Deputy Minister Akhmet Gurbanov met with new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Turkmenistan, Mr. Kestutis Vaskelevicius, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented copies of his credentials.
Akhmet Gurbanov congratulated the head of the diplomatic mission on his appointment to the responsible post and assured of the Turkmen side's readiness to provide comprehensive assistance and support in the implementation of his activities. As noted in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania will carry out his mission from his residence in Baku.
During the talks, the Turkmen and Lithuanian diplomats discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation. They specified the priority areas for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and Lithuania.
Particular emphasis was placed on the joint activities of both countries in multilateral forums, primarily within the framework of the United Nations.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov also expressed hope for the active participation of the Lithuanian delegation in the work of the upcoming international forum, which will be held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2025. This forum is dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Kestutis Vaskelevicius presented his credentials to Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova during a meeting in parliament on Thursday.
On behalf of the head of the Turkmen state, the head of the national Parliament congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment, wishing him success in strengthening interstate relations.
The Ambassador noted that it was a great honor for him to represent his country in Turkmenistan, which is recognized as a peacekeeping center in the region and advocates for the establishment of positive and effective ties for the common good.
During the meeting, the diplomat was informed about the policy pursued by our state, aimed at developing equal, mutually beneficial cooperation with interested countries. The diplomat was also familiarized with the structure and multilateral activities of the Mejlis.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania in bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of authoritative international organizations.
