 The First Meeting of Education Ministers of Central Asia and China Held in Urumqi

The First Meeting of Education Ministers of Central Asia and the People's Republic of China was held on May 12 in Urumqi (PRC). The meeting was attended by the heads of the ministries of education and science of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China. The meeting was opened by Deputy Minister of Education of China Wu Yan with a welcoming speech.

At the meeting, delegations of the participating countries made reports in which they considered current issues of education development as a key factor in the progress of any society and cooperation in this important area. The participants advocated for the coordination of educational systems, the expansion of joint projects, the development of joint curricula, an increase in the academic mobility of students and teachers, the development of continuous education and scientific and practical cooperation in the field of innovative technologies.

This will be facilitated by the "Regulations on the mechanism of meetings of education ministers "China - Central Asia" and the "Urumqi Declaration" approved during the event. These documents define the main areas of future cooperation and emphasize the importance of studying foreign languages, scientific research, training highly qualified engineers and competitive specialists, NIAT Khovar reports.

It is reported that the opening ceremony of a number of joint projects was also held within the framework of the meeting, including the creation of the China-Central Asia Alliance for the Integration of Education and Production, the opening of the International Institute for Advanced Training of Teachers, the launch of an international medical center in Astana, a number of joint scientific laboratories, as well as the signing of several memorandums and agreements between educational institutions of the countries.
