An international initiative for the planting of the Alley of Remembrance and the laying of the foundation stone for the Monument to the Heroes of Victory took place at Villa Abamelek in Rome, the residence of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Italy. This event, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was reported by TASS. The information notes that ambassadors of CIS countries and other friendly states participated in the events.

Russian diplomats planted pine trees. Hazelnut and cypress trees were planted by the heads and representatives of the embassies of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, Mongolia, Zimbabwe, Belarus, Venezuela, Brazil, and Iraq. According to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Italy, Alexey Paramonov, who initiated the initiative, the planted trees symbolize the unbreakable bond between generations and the unity of peoples who fought together against Nazism and Fascism.

The Ambassador stated that the monument, to which the planted alley leads, will be erected in the coming years.
