Strategic initiatives and international relations: key highlights from the government meeting
30.05.2025 | 23:22 |Ashgabat, May 30 | ORIENT. Under the chairmanship of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a regular meeting of the government of Turkmenistan was held online, during which key issues of the domestic and foreign state agenda were discussed.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, provided information on the progress of legislative activities. The focus includes the development of draft laws aimed at modernizing the civil law sphere, improving the electoral system, protecting human rights and freedoms, as well as regulating issues related to intellectual property, virtual assets, and customs policy.
The active development of international parliamentary cooperation was emphasized, including working contacts with representatives of Lithuania, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, and Iran. Particular attention was paid to the working visit of the Turkmen parliamentary delegation to Beijing, where priority areas of interstate cooperation were discussed.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov presented a draft regulatory document on industrial safety control, prepared in accordance with the Law "On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities".
Vice-Premier Batyr Amanov reported on the improvement of the rules for cargo operations in seaports for the export of oil, petroleum products, and petrochemical products. Draft resolutions on these matters were submitted for the Head of State's approval.
Vice-Premier Tangryguly Atahallyev provided information on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns. The rice sowing in the Dashoguz velayat (region) has been completed, and in the Lebap velayat, according to the Deputy Prime Minister's report, preparations for this crucial season are underway. The tending of cotton and spring crops continues, and the harvesting of early produce is in progress. Special attention is being paid to water supply and land reclamation issues.
The President of Turkmenistan announced the start of the grain harvesting campaign: in the Akhal, Lebap, and Mary regions – from June 4th, and in the Balkan and Dashoguz regions – from June 11th. Traditionally, the start of the harvest will be marked by the blessing of respected elders.
Deputy Chairman of the Government, Baymyrat Annamammedov, reported on the preparations for International Children's Day and the construction of the "Güneşli" Children and Youth Center in Ashgabat. The project is being implemented with the support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation.
The President of Turkmenistan signed a resolution on the commencement of the Center's construction and congratulated the people on the upcoming holiday.
Vice-Premier Nokerguly Atagulyyev presented a project for the creation of a new market in the city of Serakhs, which aligns with the course towards the progressive development of trade infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova reported on the preparations for the international dance and folklore festival "Avaza – Land of Friendship," which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from June 2nd to 7th with the participation of foreign ensembles.
Vice-Premier Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva presented a program of events dedicated to Science Day. The celebration will include two international scientific conferences – in hybrid and in-person formats – and an award ceremony for young researchers.
Deputy Chairman of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, reported on the preparations for the working visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Astana to participate in the first "Central Asia – Italy" summit, as well as for the state visit to Mongolia, scheduled for June 1st–2nd. The multifaceted nature of Turkmenistan's cooperation with Italy and Mongolia was emphasized, including political and diplomatic interaction, trade and economic ties, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and scientific exchanges.
Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakyev reported on the measures taken to improve the quality of vessel servicing at the "Balkan" shipbuilding and repair yard, and also submitted a number of proposals on this topic for consideration.
During the government meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov assessed all the reports and, having reviewed the submitted proposals, addressed instructions to the Deputy Prime Ministers, including regarding the holding of all events planned for the near future.
The Head of State signed a document on organizing control over compliance with industrial safety requirements at the production facilities operating in the country, and approved proposals on the construction of a market in the city of Serakhs and on improving the services provided by the "Balkan" shipbuilding yard.
