In Turkmenistan, 321 convicts were pardoned: a chance for a new life

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on pardoning convicted persons in honor of the sacred Gadyr Gidzhesi- Night of Omnipotence, releasing 321 citizens of the country from further serving the main sentence in the form of imprisonment. The decision was made, guided by the principles of mercy and humanism, as well as in order to further strengthen the unity and cohesion of Turkmen society and each family.

This became known today during the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday. The Secretary of the State Security Council, Chairman of the Commission Begench Gundogdyev made a report on the results of the work of the Commission for the preparation of proposals on issues of citizenship and pardon under the President of Turkmenistan.

After hearing the report, the head of state, following the noble tradition, signed a decree on pardon on the occasion of the approaching sacred Night of Omnipotence. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Chairman of the Commission, together with the heads of law enforcement agencies, to carry out the necessary work to release convicts from places of detention and ensure their speedy return to their families, the TDH report says. The President of Turkmenistan wished the pardoned persons to work conscientiously, sincerely serve the Fatherland and live, enjoying the fruits of their labor. This humane action on the sacred Gadyr Gijesi once again demonstrates Turkmenistan's commitment to the high principles of humanity and mercy.
