Join the Enhanced Transparency Initiative for Climate Change
27.11.2020 | 09:52 |Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Patricia Espinoza announced a new Enhanced Transparency Initiative for Climate Change. The initiative seeks to bring countries, business communities, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders together to implement the requirements under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement.
The ETF defines how the parties to the Paris Agreement report progress in reducing emissions, adapting to the impacts of climate change. Participation and regular reporting within the ETF will enable governments to better assess and plan their climate action and determine what needs to be done to achieve a low carbon and sustainable change. It should be noted that over the next few years, the parties will move from the existing transparency mechanisms to the ETF in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
Achieving the goals specified in the Paris Agreement requires all to participate in the Enhanced Transparency Initiative, which will help to join existing efforts and stimulate new ideas.
