The Central Asian Conference on Climate Change will be held in Ashgabat

The Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC-2025) is scheduled to take place in Ashgabat from May 13 to 15 of this year. It is expected that representatives of relevant government structures, international organizations, and experts from Central Asian countries will participate in the event to discuss issues related to advancing climate actions in the region.

The theme of the conference is "Achieving the Global Climate Finance Goal through Regional and National Actions in Central Asia". The focus will be on mobilizing financial resources, strengthening regional cooperation, and enhancing climate change resilience.

Specific agenda items for the conference and preparations for it were discussed during the working visit of the Executive Director of the Central Asian Regional Environmental Center (CAREC), Zafar Mahmudov, to Ashgabat from January 28 to February 1.

Given that climate change issues—such as rising temperatures, desertification, and the accelerated melting of glaciers—are impacting the overall situation in the Central Asian region, CACCC-2025 is expected to become an important platform for discussing and coordinating actions to provide the region’s countries with the necessary financial and political support to transition to a more environmentally sustainable future.

The Central Asian Conference on Climate Change (CACCC) is a key regional platform that brings together representatives from governments, international organizations, the scientific community, and civil society to discuss issues of climate resilience, adaptation, and mitigation of climate change impacts. The aim of the conference is to promote regional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint solutions for sustainable development in Central Asia.

The hosting of CACCC-2025 in Ashgabat will be a significant event, contributing to the strengthening of regional cooperation and the mobilization of additional resources for the implementation of climate initiatives.

CACCC-2025 is organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) in partnership with the World Bank, the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), the RESILAND CA+ program, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
