Türkiye plans to launch fifth-generation (5G) cellular communication in 2026

In recent years, Türkiye has made significant progress in the field of mobile communications, with the vast majority of the country's subscribers already having transitioned to 4.5G networks.

According to reports, approximately 81 million out of 87 million mobile users in Türkiye utilize this technology. 4.5G provides higher data transfer speeds and improved connection quality compared to previous standards.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan intends to launch fifth-generation (5G) cellular communication in 2026. To this end, a tender for the creation of a national 5G network will be held in 2025, which will allow the country to become part of the global digital economy. This event will be an important step towards improving communication infrastructure in Turkey and increasing the country's competitiveness in the international arena.

5G testing has already begun in various regions, including Istanbul International Airport. It is expected that 5G will provide not only higher internet speeds but also new opportunities for business, such as the Internet of Things and smart cities.
