 Turkmenistan Presents Renewable Energy Plans at World Utilities Congress

A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in the World Utilities Congress 2024, which was held from September 16 to 18 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Energy and included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkmengas State Concern. The Congress was attended by about 1,400 delegates from more than 90 countries, including ministers, politicians, representatives of international organizations and business structures. The Congress was held simultaneously with the Arab Water Forum and included more than a hundred sessions on environmental issues.

The Turkmen delegation visited an exhibition of the latest technologies in the field of energy and utilities, where innovative solutions from leading companies were presented. On the second day, a special session “Tripling the capacity of renewable energy sources: from plans to actions” was held, at which Deputy Minister Nurmammet Nurmammedov shared plans for the development of renewable energy in Turkmenistan.

A meeting was also held with Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera, where they discussed Turkmenistan's goals in the field of renewable energy for 2025-2030. La Camera invited Turkmenistan to participate in the Renewable Energy Investment Forum within the framework of COP-29 in Baku.

On the last day of the Congress, the Turkmen delegation took part in a session dedicated to the role of renewable energy in the future and financing methods involving the private sector.
