Oriented on making people closer

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov met on Thursday, September 4, with the regional representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR) Matilda Bogner.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further cooperation. In this context, it was emphasized that in order to further improve democratic institutions and effectively implement human rights obligations, Turkmenistan is implementing a multifaceted partnership with international organizations.

The issues of the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission for Ensuring the Fulfilment of Turkmenistan's International Commitments in the Field of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law were considered. The tasks of implementing the National Action Plans on Human Rights and Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, and on the implementation of children's rights for 2023-2028 were discussed.

The meeting participants discussed the results of the dialogues within the framework of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, the Committee on the Rights of the Child, and emphasized their intention to cooperate in implementing the recommendations of the committees on a systemic basis.

The interlocutors expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the UN in the area of ​​"Human Rights Education".
