 Turkmenistan to modernize facilities for storage and shipment of liquefied natural gas

Turkmenistan will modernize facilities for receiving, storing and shipping liquefied natural gas produced by the state concern Turkmengaz. The existing facilities will be reconstructed in accordance with the growing production volumes of this type of fuel. Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov informed about this at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday, April 19.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the project and stressed the urgency of increasing production of liquefied natural gas in the country, as well as its reliable transportation to international markets.

The growth rate of liquefied natural gas production in Turkmenistan in January- March 2024 amounted to 109.4%.

The share of liquefied natural gas in the global primary energy balance is increasing, according to analysts, LNG production in the world will increase by 30% in the next three years. In addition, by 2030, according to Bloomberg NEF, by 70%. Qatar recently announced that it plans to increase its liquefied natural gas production capacity by about 85% by the end of this decade.
