Production of “flying cars” has been launched in Japan
09.03.2024 | 16:29 |Japanese engineering company Suzuki has launched production of “flying cars”. The project is being implemented jointly with SkyDrive.
Production started in Japan in the city of Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The SkyDrive SD-05 is a compact electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft that seats two passengers and a pilot. Its maximum cruising speed is 100 km/h, and its flight range on a single charge is about 10 km.
The SkyDrive SD-05 is slated to be used as an air taxi at Expo 2025 in Osaka next year. In the future, private clients will also be able to purchase similar “flying cars.”
The agreement between Suzuki and Skydrive to produce the SkyDrive SD-05 models was signed back in October last year. It is planned to produce about one hundred such aircraft per year.
