 Strengthening ties: Turkmenistan and Tatarstan expand cooperation in education

On February 27, Kazan hosted a significant meeting of the rectors of two leading universities: the Oguz Han University of Engineering Technologies of Turkmenistan (UET) and the Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU-KSTU). The meeting was held with the participation of the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan, Guych Garayev. This is reported on the website of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan.

The main topic of the meeting was the establishment of fruitful cooperation in the field of education and science. The rectors of the universities, Gurbanmyrat Mezilov (UET) and Yuri Kazakov (KNRTU-KSTU), presented detailed presentations of their universities, focusing on key areas of specialist training.

Gurbanmyrat Mezilov emphasized the interest of the Turkmen side in developing cooperation in such sought-after areas as biotechnology, nanotechnology, chemical technology, oil and gas industry and others. The rectors enthusiastically expressed their willingness to actively participate in international scientific and research events held both at KNRTU-KSTU and at the University named after him. Oguz Han, as well as in the cities of Ashgabat and Kazan.

In turn, Mr. Mezilov invited KNRTU-KSTU professors to make presentations at the international conference on biotechnology scheduled at the University. Oguz Han in March 2024. Following the meeting, the parties reached an understanding on the implementation of the planned agreements and expressed their firm intention to consider the possibility of concluding a bilateral Memorandum.

It is worth noting that more than 20 thousand students study at KNRTU-KSTU, 10% of whom are international students. At the same time, as Yuri Kazakov stressed, 74% of the total number of foreign students at the university are students from Turkmenistan.
