On Tuesday, February 20, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat.

The diplomat presented her credentials to the head of state and conveyed greetings from Indian President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was reported in the news release of the Turkmen State Radio and Television.

Addressing return greetings to the top leadership of India, the head of state noted the dynamic, progressive nature of bilateral relations, which have deep historical roots. The Republic of India is one of the important partners of Turkmenistan in South Asia, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

Our states cooperate productively in the trade and economic sphere, including in such industries as the fuel, energy and transport sectors, agriculture, and the textile industry. At the same time, there are great opportunities for increasing these ties, primarily in the field of energy and transport.

In this regard, the importance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project was emphasized, the implementation of which will contribute to the development of the economies of the participating countries, their social and industrial infrastructure, the creation of new jobs and the attraction of foreign investment.

One of the current areas of cooperation is the healthcare sector, where effective connections have been established, including with Indian pharmaceutical companies.

The parties confirmed their readiness to expand contacts in science, education and culture, cultural and scientific exchanges, which play an important role in the humanitarian dialogue.
