The Turkmen ambassador to Qatar has published an article in an Arabic newspaper in honor of the 28th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the State of Qatar, Myratgeldi Seyitmammedov, published an article in honor of the 28th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality in one of the leading Arab newspapers Al Sharq.

In his article, the diplomat emphasizes that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to the development of relations with the countries of the Middle East in its foreign policy strategy. In this context, a priority role is given to relations with Qatar.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar in 1996, many efforts have been made to rapidly develop bilateral partnership.

This year, a Turkmen diplomatic mission was opened in Doha, the capital of Qatar. A new chapter in the history of relations between the two countries was opened by the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Qatar in March this year.

During his trip to the State of Qatar in 2022, at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Serdar Berdimuhamedov became the guest of honor at one of the matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The football championship was held in the Middle East for the first time.

On October 9 of this year, the National Day of Turkmenistan opened in Al-Bidda Park in Doha as part of the international horticultural exhibition EXPO 2023.

A special place in the development of cooperation between the two countries is occupied by the joint government Turkmen-Qatari commission on trade and economic cooperation. Energy, trade, transport and communication, agriculture, trade, and investment are the most priority areas for the development of relations between countries.

Al Sharq is Qatar's most widely read newspaper, which is published daily in Arabic. It is one of the three leading Arab newspapers in the country and has the largest circulation in Qatar. This status has been repeatedly recognized by international research agencies such as PARC (Palo Alto Research Center Incorporated) and the global IPSOS research company headquartered in France.
