 The III meeting of the International Association “Turkmen Alabai” was held in Ashgabat

The III meeting of the International Association “Turkmen Alabai” was held on Friday in Ashgabat. Members of the Association, heads and specialists of specialized structures and higher educational institutions became participants of the forum dedicated to the Holiday of the Turkmen Alabai. Foreign dog breeders joined the meeting via video link.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the Day of Turkmen Alabai is celebrated in the country annually on the last Sunday of October. This ancient breed of dog is a national treasure and a brand. At the meeting, experts spoke about the large-scale work carried out in the country to popularize Turkmen alabai in the world, about their protection and breeding, as well as the preservation of the population. It was noted that all conditions have been created in Turkmenistan for the scientific study of the history of this breed of dogs and its features. The created International Association “Turkmen Alabai” unites the efforts of Turkmen and foreign specialists engaged in breeding and upbringing of Alabai, the forum said.

In a short time, the number of members of this authoritative organization has significantly increased, which was joined by foreign dog handlers who became participants of the Ashgabat meeting. In their speeches, they noted the importance of collecting and exchanging information about the current state of the breed. The topics of breeding, conservation and population growth were discussed. And in this regard, they stressed the need to hold various joint events – methodological conferences, exhibitions, competitions, seminars, symposiums, lectures and meetings in the format of “round tables”.

Speakers at the forum expressed confidence that the cooperation of Turkmen and foreign colleagues will improve the efficiency of work on the preservation of the gene pool and the growth of the number of purebred representatives of these unique dogs for future generations.
