The Chinese company BYD Auto and JSC "Uzavtosanoat" signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint venture "BYD Uzbekistan Factory".

The agreement was signed during a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation led by the founder and president of BYD Company Ltd, Wang Chuanfu, reports gazeta.uz .

The joint venture will be engaged in the production of electric and hybrid cars (such cars can be charged from electricity and refueled with traditional fuel) in Uzbekistan. The project provides for the production of a full cycle of cars using new BYD energy sources, including welding, painting and assembly stages.

At the first and second stages, it is planned to produce 50 thousand cars. And after the completion of the third stage — 300 thousand.

The joint venture will be the first joint venture of the Chinese world leader of electric vehicles outside the PRC.

The BYD company, founded in 1995, is currently the world's leading manufacturer of cars powered by new energy sources (NEV). The company has more than 27 years of research and development experience in the field of batteries and is known worldwide for its innovations, including ownership of the entire supply chain for electric vehicles.

The company's cars powered by new energy sources are used on 6 continents, in more than 70 countries and regions, and in over 400 cities.
