A boxer from Turkmenistan made it to the second round at the Asian Games in Hangzhou
28.09.2023 | 14:00 |At the XIX Summer Asian Games, which are held in Hangzhou, China, Turkmen boxer Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov won the first victory for his team. This was reported to the ORIENT correspondent in the Federation of this sport of the country.
Nurmuhammedov competes in the weight category up to 71 kg, in which 23 boxers are fighting for medals. In his opening fight, he met Davud Makhkamov from Tajikistan, who participated in the 2023 World Championship in Tashkent. Our athlete did not give any chances to his opponent and defeated him with a score of 5:0.
Nurmuhammedov's advantage was already evident in the first round, in which all five judges gave preference to our athlete. In the second round, only one referee – Emanuel Valentin Ferreira from Puerto Rico - gave his vote to the Tajik boxer. In addition, in the third round, the judges were unanimous again, assigning the victory to the Turkmen.
In the next round of the competition, Nurmuhammedov will meet 19-year-old Nidal Focahaa from Palestine, who took 9th place at the 2023 World Championships in Tashkent.
Nurmuhammedov is a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports and a multiple champion and prize-winner of national and international boxing tournaments.
