The Turkmen 3x3 basketball team defeated the Maldives at the Asian Games
25.09.2023 | 20:42 |The Turkmen 3x3 basketball team began its performance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou with a confident victory over the Maldives team. The Turkmen basketball players did not leave any chances to their rivals and won with a score of 22:2.
The Turkmen national team consists of Evgeny Nazipov, Dovlet Narmyradov, Maksat Hojaberdyev and Kirill Besh. The team is coached by Toyly Bayriev.
In the next round, which will take place on September 26, the Turkmen basketball players will play with the Japanese team, which also won its first match.
Recall that the Asian Games are held from September 23 to October 8. Initially, the XIX Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou were planned to be held from September 10 to 25, 2022, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2023.
In total, more than 15 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries take part in the Games. 481 sets of medals in 40 sports are being played at the Games.
Turkmen athletes represent the country in such sports as 3x3 basketball, boxing, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, jiu-jitsu, judo, kurash wrestling, karate, athletics, swimming, weightlifting and wushu.
