Turkmen swimmers won 11 medals at the international tournament in Dushanbe
16.09.2023 | 13:38 |Turkmen swimmers won 11 medals of various denominations at the international tournament that ended in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), timed to coincide with the fifth Consultative Meeting of the heads of Central Asian states and the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
According to Orient, the Turkmenistan Aquatics Federation, on the final day of the competition, Turkmen athletes won three medals - one gold, one silver and one bronze.
Merdan Atayev, Master of Sports of international class, won a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke.
Valeria Mirenskaya was the bronze medalist of the championship, having demonstrated the second result in the 100-meter backstroke.
The golden double of the competition day was designed by David Hakobyan. First, the Turkmen swimmer won the 50-meter freestyle, leaving behind rivals from Vietnam and Thailand.
In the combined 4x100 mix relay, the Turkmen team managed to take second place.
Thus, according to the results of the competition, Turkmen swimmers won 11 medals, of which 2 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.
Swimmers from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in the international tournament, which was held from September 12 to 15 in Dushanbe.
The Turkmen national team was represented at this tournament by eight athletes: Merdan Atayev, Abdyrahman Agamuradov, Muhammetmyrat Gutlyev, Gurban Hommadov, Seyran Nurmuradov, Roman Shabelnik, Valeria Mirenskaya and Ogulmergen Nurayeva. Turkmen swimmers performed under the leadership of Rustam Esenov and Valentin Gorshkov.
