 Turkmen para powerlifters won two medals at the World Championship

At the World Para Powerlifting Championship, which took place in Dubai (UAE), Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals. An ORIENT correspondent was informed about this by the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the country.

Bronze medals were won by Bayramgeldi Saparov and Ovezgeldi Ordzhiev, who performed in the category over 45 years old. Bayramgeldi Saparov lifted 165 kg in weight up to 80 kg, and Ovezgeldi Ordzhiev lifted 150 kg in weight up to 88 kg.

About 500 athletes from 80 countries took part in the competition, competing in different age and weight categories. The Turkmen team consisted of 10 athletes who trained under the guidance of Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Takhyr Shorakhanov.

Para powerlifting is a Paralympic sport for persons with musculoskeletal disabilities. During the exercise, an athlete demonstrates upper body strength.
