 Turkmen swimmers started with victories at the international tournament in Dushanbe

Turkmen swimmers won one gold, four silver and three bronze medals following the results of two days of competition at the international tournament in Dushanbe.

Master of Sports of International Class Merdan Atayev received the highest award in the 50-meter backstroke.

The Turkmenistan team also took third place in the 200-meter backstroke, where Gurban Hommadov distinguished himself.

Ogulmerjen Nuraeva won two medals - silver and bronze. The athlete from Turkmenistan won silver in the 100-meter breaststroke and bronze in the 50-meter distance in the same discipline.

Valeria Mirenskaya managed to get the silver double. First, the Turkmen athlete received a silver medal in the women's 4x100 freestyle relay. Next, Mirenskaya took another silver, showing the second result in the 50-meter backstroke.

In addition, the Turkmen team won silver in the combined relay.

The Turkmen team is represented at this tournament by eight athletes: Merdan Ataev, Abdyrakhman Agamuradov, Muhammedmurad Gutlyev, Gurban Hommadov, Seyran Nurmuradov, Roman Shabelnik, Valeria Mirenskaya and Ogulmerdzhen Nuraeva. Turkmen swimmers perform under the leadership of Rustam Esenov and Valentin Gorshkov.

Athletes from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan take part in the championship. The tournament ends on September 15th.
