The President of Turkmenistan proposed creating the Central Asian Council on New Technologies, noting that the countries of the region have great potential for innovative growth, the best scientific schools and technological developments.

The new institute can take on the functions of a think tank for the formation of a joint strategy for the states of the region on innovative technologies, make relevant recommendations and develop specific proposals, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, taking the initiative to create the Council at the fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in the capital of Tajikistan.

“The area where the interests and goals of the Central Asian states must be reliably ensured and implemented, and where we cannot under any circumstances allow lag, is innovation and new technologies,” Turkmenistan Today quoted Serdar Berdimuhamedov as saying.

The head of Turkmenistan invited the countries to combine these advantages, establish an exchange of experience, knowledge, skills and jointly introduce advanced foreign achievements. In addition, the President noted the need to create the most favorable conditions for the development of innovative knowledge, as well as to attract and encourage youth creative initiative.

Today it is important to develop the economies of the countries of the region with a pronounced innovative character and digital format, and it is best to do this together. The Central Asian Council on New Technologies will become precisely the institution that will coordinate joint efforts in this direction,” the President of Turkmenistan said.
