04.08.2023 | 17:24 |Cooperation in the field of transport has become one of the main topics of the Summit of the Presidents of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, held on August 4 in Ashgabat. The intention to use the great potential of the three countries in the field of transport, logistics and transit is also enshrined in the Joint Statement of the Heads of State.
“In order to expand cooperation in the field of transport and use the transit potential of the three countries, the parties stressed the importance of intensifying multimodal transportation along the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan transport route, which provides access for the three countries to seaports, including the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf,” the document says.
The countries confirmed their readiness to continue systemic mutually beneficial cooperation to further optimize tariffs and provide favorable conditions for the transit transportation of foreign trade goods. To this end, the presidents instructed the heads of transport departments of their states to hold a meeting before the end of this year.
The Statement also expressed support for activities and projects aimed at stimulating trade and economic relations and developing the entire transport and communication infrastructure that serves the welfare of the region.
