Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Qatar are considering investment opportunities
20.07.2023 | 03:07 |During the visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Saudi Arabia to participate in the summit of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf with the countries of Central Asia (GCC+CA), the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on behalf of the head of the Turkmen state met with a member of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli.
During the meeting, the head of the CCI stated that currently trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar are developing successfully, nevertheless, the potential of the two friendly countries makes it possible to significantly intensify them.
To this end, the opinion was expressed about the relevance of creating a Turkmen-Qatari business council, whose activities would strengthen cooperation between the two countries by providing companies with the opportunity to establish direct mutually beneficial contacts.
The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan said that Turkmen entrepreneurship, which is rapidly developing thanks to state support, is interested in entering the rich Qatari market, and also called on Arab businessmen to actively participate in investing in the Turkmen economy.
Mergen Gurdov named such industries as fuel and energy, petrochemicals, industry, electric power, agro-industrial sector and some other promising areas of investment cooperation. At the same time, he stressed the readiness of the organization headed by him to assist Qatari investors in developing the promising Turkmen market.
In turn, Mohammed bin Ahmed, a member of the Board of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Al-Obaidli, according to a statement published by the CCI, informed his Turkmen counterpart about the interest of Qatari businessmen in establishing partnerships with Turkmen companies, for which it is necessary to specifically identify promising areas of investment cooperation.
Al-Obaidli also expressed confidence that the business council discussed during the meeting will play an important role in the progressive development of multi- format cooperation between the State of Qatar and Turkmenistan.
Also during the meeting, a mutual opinion was supported on the need to organize mutual visits of delegations of chambers of commerce and industry in the near future.
Considering that the meeting in Doha of the heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Qatar was held in parallel with the summit in Jeddah of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf (which includes Qatar) With the Central Asian countries, there is reason to believe that the Arab vector in Turkmenistan's foreign policy is becoming more systematic.
