 OSCE Secretary General presented certificates on Arkadag city and Turkmenbashi port to the Head of Turkmenistan

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid on Thursday, who during the meeting presented the head of state with a certificate on the accession of the city of Arkadag to the project "Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe region" and an EcoPorts certificate issued to the seaport of Turkmenbashi.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated Helga Schmid on the opening of the new building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, also expressing gratitude for the certificates that confirm the effective interaction of the country with the OSCE on the environmental track.

As it was noted during the conversation, this fruitful cooperation is successfully developing within the framework of joint programs developed annually by the Government of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

The President and his guest exchanged views on the topics of international politics and security. It was stressed that political and diplomatic mechanisms play a key role in addressing important issues on the global agenda. In this context, it was noted that an international conference "The role of neutral states in strengthening security, stability and dialogue in the OSCE region", organized by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, was recently held in Ashgabat.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that sustainable transit of energy resources is directly linked to the prosperity of the entire region, and as a country with rich hydrocarbon reserves, Turkmenistan makes an important contribution to ensuring international energy security. The Head of State stressed the expediency of carrying out relevant work within the OSCE, including political, financial, technological and environmental aspects of energy supply and transit issues.

Other priority areas of cooperation include the transport and logistics sector, the development of democratic institutions, ensuring human rights and freedoms, gender equality, etc.
