Issues of combating climate change in Central Asia discussed in Dushanbe
19.05.2023 | 16:49 |Turkmenistan was represented at the 5th Central Asian Climate Change Conference (CACIC-2023), which completed its work in Dushanbe.
The two-day event was organized by the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia (CAREC) within the framework of the projects "Program for Adaptation to Climate Change and Mitigation of its Consequences in the Aral Sea Basin additional Financing" (CAMP4ASB AF) and "Central Asian Dialogue on Stimulating Intersectoral Financing based on the "water-energy-Food" relationship" (Nexus).
The Conference provided a platform for interested parties, including representatives of the public and private sectors, representatives of international organizations, development banks, the expert community, youth leaders, scientific institutions, a platform for a regional multilateral dialogue on the possibilities of fulfilling the obligations of the Central Asian countries under the Paris Agreement.
The participants discussed issues of water and energy security. It was noted that the goals of decarbonization in Central Asia are ambitious, but achievable. In this regard, countries need to use the significant opportunities of renewable energy sources to reduce dependence on fossil fuels,
During two days, 6 main and 11 parallel sessions were held.
