Oriented on making people closer

The city of Shusha, which is also called the singing heart of Azerbaijan, has received the status of the cultural capital of the Turkic world-2023. The opening ceremony of the event took place on Friday. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), AZERTAC news agency reports.

The festive celebrations were attended by delegations of TURKSOY member countries, including Turkmenistan, heads of cooperation organizations of Turkic countries and other guests.

Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, speaking at the ceremony, noted that within the framework of the program "Shusha is the cultural capital of the Turkic world", cultural events will be held in the city during the year, in which creative collectives and artists of all Turkic–speaking countries will take part.

The opening of the III TURKSOY Film Festival "Gorgud Ata" will take place at the Shusha site, and the I Forum of Culture of the Turkic World will be held in autumn. The program will end in November with the closing ceremony of "Shusha – the cultural capital", and the baton will be handed over to the city of Anau in Turkmenistan, which will receive the status of the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic world" in 2024."

Recall that in 2015 the city of Mary was declared the cultural capital of TURKSOY. Anau will become the 12th capital of the year of the Turkic world.
