A plan for the waste-free holding of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou has been presented

The organizers of the XIX Asian Summer Games 2022 in Hangzhou presented an Action Plan for a multi-sport event with zero waste.

The plan outlines a number of measures aimed at reducing the amount of waste at the Games. In particular, the construction of eco-friendly housing, the use of paperless and renewable materials, as well as the achievement of energy conservation and emission reduction.

Among other measures envisaged by the plan, the management of the risk of hazardous waste pollution and the creation of a coordination mechanism for their prevention.

The organizers of Hangzhou-2022 were also instructed to develop a classification system for secondary raw materials during the event and popularize the concept of "Asian Games without waste".

"Thanks to the implementation of this plan, Zhejiang Province will form the first standard "zero waste" system for a large-scale event. In the future, this valuable experience will also be applied in the construction of waste—free cities and other events," the Hangzhou 2022 Games Organizing Committee said in a statement.

It should be noted that Zhejiang Province strives to make Hangzhou a "waste-free city".

The XIX Asian Summer Games in Hangzhou will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
