Issues of further development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations, including in the areas of economy, trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, intensification of interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchange were discussed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov who is on a visit to Tashkent to attend a meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers.
Rashid Meredov conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to the head of Uzbekistan from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the head of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.
During the meeting, aspects of the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level during the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan (July 14-15) and the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat (October 21-22) were discussed.
It was noted that a number of joint events will take place in the first quarter of this year - regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Joint Commission on Water Management Issues, inter-MFA political consultations, cultural and other events.
There was also an exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
