 With the support of USAID, Turkmenistan is preparing a guide for the creation of orchards

The National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and USAID are preparing a practical guide on methods for creating orchards and forest plantations, according to a USAID press release.

The handbook will provide information on the impact of climate change on tree planting in Turkmenistan, bioecological features of plants recommended for cultivation in the country, as well as recommendations on seed preparation, irrigation techniques, control and measures to combat pests and plant diseases.

The draft manual was presented during a round table with the participation of representatives of the public and private sectors, forestry experts. At the end of the meeting, the experts made their suggestions and final amendments to the practical guide being developed.

In her speech, USAID representative in Turkmenistan Nino Nadiradze noted that the partnership between the USAID program to promote the improvement of public Administration and the Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna helps to introduce the best national and international practices of planting and irrigation of plants in the framework of afforestation campaigns.
