China will begin to focus on preventing the severe course of COVID-19 and protecting people's health, instead of preventing the disease. This was stated by the official representative of the State Committee for Health Affairs (SCH) of China Mi Feng at a press conference in Beijing.

"Currently, the focus of work on combating COVID-19 in China is shifting from infection prevention to health protection and prevention of severe cases of the disease. Rural areas are in the focus of efforts to combat the epidemic and provide medical care," said a representative of the State Committee for Health Affairs.

Mi Feng stressed that daily healthcare services should be improved and effective work should be carried out to protect the elderly and children from COVID-19.

He also called for the use of traditional Chinese medicine and noted that during the outbreak of the pandemic, China combined the methods of treatment of Western and traditional Chinese medicine.
