Turkmenistan to establish inter-sectoral cooperation in the field of adaptation to climate change
24.12.2022 | 21:19 |Options for coordinating intersectoral cooperation in the field of climate change adaptation planning in Turkmenistan were presented during a seminar held by the UNDP representative office in the country, the organization said on Instagram.
The unified coordination mechanism should accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change through the development of appropriate adaptation measures agreed between all responsible departments and enterprises.
As noted, adaptation to climate change will occur as efficiently as possible if it is integrated into the main activities of organizations — in their environmental policies, plans, programs.
The event was organized within the framework of the project "Development of the national adaptation planning process in Turkmenistan", which is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection jointly with UNDP.
Turkmenistan seeks to strengthen its capacity for adaptation and resilience to climate change by integrating climate risks and adaptation measures into planning and budgeting processes through the development of a national adaptation process (NAP).
