Turkmenistan becomes a link for transcontinental cargo transportation
22.01.2022 | 07:43 |During a government meeting, Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiev reported to the Turkmen leader on the work to determine the national operator for international road and rail freight transportation in the context of the accession of Kazakhstan, Qatar and India to the “Lyapis Lazur” transport corridor, connecting highways and railways Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, as well as to the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman.
The Agency is carrying out activities to increase cargo transportation along the international transport corridor TRACECA (Europe-Caucasus-Asia) and along the Caspian Sea - Black Sea route.
The head of the agency informed the head of state that a flexible pricing policy contributes to the fact that a number of countries are interested in participating in transport projects, the routes of which run through Turkmenistan. So, for example, Afghan, Pakistani and Indian companies - to participate in container transportation along the route China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey, as well as through Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan, Russia and Europe.
On a planned basis, negotiations are being held with large companies to attract investment in the transport and logistics system and to more actively use the transit potential of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi.
