07.11.2021 | 05:35 |A nationwide tree planting event was held in Turkmenistan on Saturday.
In Ashgabat, a tree and shrub planting activity took place in the area around the Makhtumkuli monument, where a large park complex is being created.
This morning, work was in full swing here on the hills, the start of which was given by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov by planting a juniper tree.
Together with the head of state, the action was attended by the leadership corps, student youth, representatives of various departments and organizations, residents of the capital.
The current campaign is part of a systematic environmental work in Turkmenistan, including in the field of climate change.
Three million seedlings were planted in the country every year, and 2019 and 2020 became record years in this regard - 25 million trees were planted in honor of the 25th anniversary of neutrality, and 30 million trees were planted on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of independence.
Green areas are growing, and nurseries are expanding accordingly, where seedlings of various types of trees are grown.
Also today, the new forest was laid on the southern approaches to the capital, and the gigantic statue of Makhtumkuli, towering over the surrounding expanses, in a few years will gaze not at the desert hills, but at the dense pine, thuja and juniper groves.
