Cultural enlightenment is an integral part of the project, so the exhibition itself is divided into four sectors. The festival combines the best – from decorative and applied arts to entertainment programs, where art historians and artisans themselves tell about the traditions of their people in detail.
Every year the exhibition is dedicated to one participating country, for example, the year of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan has already passed, and in February 2020 the festival was marked by the year of Caucasus.
One of the most attractive and surprisingly similar to the Turkmen culture was the stand of Aizada Nurumbetova from Karakalpakstan. The needlewoman has been reviving the traditional Karakalpak costume for more than a decade and adheres to a strict rule that is peculiar to many Turkmen craftswomen – national embroidery should only be handmade.
This year, guests from Turkmenistan make a bright statement in the diverse of program the festival. In a theatrical scene, women in national costumes presented the “Pashme” Turkmen rite in honor of the delivery of a child, read poems of the classicist of Turkmen literature Makhtumkuli in Turkmen and Russian, and the lyrics of the classicist in the original language sounded like a song.
“Eastern Bazaar “Skullcap” is a very colorful event, warm and welcoming, like the East itself. Here you can find thousands of areas of common interest between the cultures of the Turkic peoples and as many completely different details.
According to the reviews of visitors to the international exhibition, such a variety of music, songs, dances, costumes and food makes you dizzy. While trying on the Turkmen national robe in combination with the Kyrgyz headdress, the guests admit that Eastern art in all its manifestations is splendid.
