On June 12, in the course of the traditional scientific conference hold in Ashgabat on the Day of Science of Turkmenistan, a new concept that can contribute considerably to the worldwide environment protection was announced for the first time by Giorgi Kvesitadze, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
The concept is based on the invention of Georgian scientists in biochemistry. In particular, they discovered previously unknown to science the properties of some plants growing in the territory of Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and neighboring countries, which are distinguished by a unique biodiversity.
According to new data, some of the region’s flora have an increased biological activity that capable to increase many times the potential of cities to control harmful emissions. Moreover, they are able to process toxic compounds in the air, converting them into useful gases for the environment.

Based on these findings, scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia developed the so-called “Green Filter” technology, according to which plants that are capable to reduce the amount of carbon monoxide in the air by 60-70 percent are planted in a certain way.
As part of the test of this biochemical research, it was found that it is capable to purify air from many other types of pollution that adversely affect the planet’s ecology. The ecological concept proposed by the well-known scientists includes the plant of such “filters” in cities to strengthen their capacity to control harmful emissions.
The Georgian scientists intend to improve the functioning of their bio-invention with the involvement of scientists from Turkmenistan, whose knowledge of the Turkmen flora can significantly improve the efficiency of the “Green Filter”.
