Equality and balance of interests: Ashgabat, Dushanbe and Tashkent will expand economic ties

Issues of trade and economic relations were among the key issues at the Summit of the heads of state of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, held in Ashgabat on August 4. The Joint Statement of the Presidents following the meeting confirmed the priority of strengthening and expanding economic partnership between the countries based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and consideration of each other's interests.

At the Kazakh-Afghan Business Forum in Astana on August 3, export contracts totaling $190.8 million were signed. Following the meeting, 15 contracts were signed for the supply of agricultural products, flour and vegetable oil, as well as a memorandum of cooperation between the National Association of Oilseed Processors (Kazakhstan) and the Balkh Union of Oil Dealers (Afghanistan). The largest number of documents (9 contracts) falls on the supply of oil.

In the near future, it is planned to put into operation the tanker "Atamyrat Nyýazow". This vessel for the transportation of oil and petroleum products with a gross capacity of 4260 tons (GT) was built in 2001. The repair of this vessel was almost completely carried out by local specialists. The launch of this tanker will contribute to the growth of exports of domestic petroleum products.
