During the seminar, international experts from Georgia share their experience of joining the WTO and fulfilling their obligations within the organization. They will highlight three stages of Georgia’s trade policy liberalization, its path of integration in the EU market, and the impact of twenty years of WTO membership on the business and investment climate, as well as the country’s role in transport and transit corridors. An expert from Montenegro presents the experience of the country’s accession to the WTO and its participation in the negotiation process.
“Our seminar is an important example of the holistic approach of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat to strengthening regional dialogue and cooperation in the field of trade facilitation, and we intend to continue our constructive partnership with the host government aimed at promoting economic security and stability,” said Ms.Drozd.
Turkmenistan was granted observer status in the World Trade Organization on July 22, 2020 at the meeting of the WTO General Council in Geneva.
The acquisition of this status by the country is intended to contribute to the dynamic development of the economy of Turkmenistan, strengthen its position in foreign trade, attract investment from abroad and develop international trade relations. It also touches upon the development of commercial and trading strategies and their successful implementation.
Currently, 164 states are members of the WTO. 24 countries have observer status in this organization. Turkmenistan became the 25th country with observer status in the WTO.
