“We have always believed that the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor lies in the fact that it can be expanded and carry additional gas to Europe. We are open to all opportunities to increase gas supplies to Europe,” US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Earl Litzenberger told representatives of local media on Wednesday, Trend reports.
In 2021, Turkmenistan produced the largest volume of natural gas in 30 years of independent development - 83 billion 772.9 million cubic meters. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Complex Shahym Abdrakhmanov, reporting on the results of the past year in the oil and gas industries at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
Turkmenistan may increase swap supplies of natural gas to Azerbaijan through Iran, and negotiations on this topic are currently underway between representatives of the relevant departments. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Ali Alizade told about this in an interview with Iranian media, Interfax reports.
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said that increasing the capacity of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is on the agenda. “We support the increase in capacity as a country. There are similar requirements from Europe. We hope that new capacity will be provided to Europe through TANAP.”
Tajikistan intends to expand the list of importers of liquefied gas. The Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, told reporters. According to him, now the main suppliers of fuel for Tajikistan are Russia and Kazakhstan.
