Ramadan 2024: Muslims in Oslo, Melbourne and Jakarta fast longer


On March 11, the holy month of Ramadan began for the entire Islamic world. During the month, Muslims strictly fast, abstaining from food, drink and entertainment.
While Ramadan occurs at the same time for everyone, the length of fasting varies, especially among Muslims living in the north.
According to the world's famous online platform for Muslims, followers of Islam in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, will fast for 15 hours and 15 minutes every day. Meanwhile, those fasting in Jakarta, Indonesia, will abstain from food and drink for approximately 13 hours and 13 minutes.
The duration of fasting in Melbourne, Australia will be 13 hours and 25 minutes per day.
According to the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan begins 11 days earlier in each solar year. This means that the length of the fast fluctuates every year.
