Turkmen customs officers got acquainted with the EU experience on transit regimes


From March 5-7, Ashgabat hosted a national seminar on various transit systems, their requirements and applications, which was organized by the European Union's Program for Border Management Assistance in Central Asia - Phase 10 (BOMCA 10) in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The seminar was attended by 10 employees of the customs service.
EU experts from the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service of Latvia familiarized the participants with the international legal framework and best practices in the field of Customs transit, shared their experience in applying various transit regimes, such as TIR Carnets and national transit, according to the website of the Customs Department of Turkmenistan.
This event is aimed, firstly, at improving the efficiency of customs transit, and secondly, at developing recommendations on the harmonization of national transit applications and legislation, the exchange of transit data and cooperation between the customs authorities of the Central Asian countries in the field of transit regimes.

Also, employees of the Customs Service Training Center took part on March 6 in the distance learning of instructors / trainers on the topic "Modern teaching methodology", organized by BOMCA 10.
As part of this regional course, a representative of the Border Academy of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted training on modern teaching methods in order to improve the skills of trainers, as well as teaching staff of Central Asian departments.
The main goal of the Consortium of Heads of Educational Institutions of Border and Customs Agencies, operating within the framework of BOMCA 10, is to promote cooperation and exchange of experience between educational institutions in Central Asia on improving the effectiveness of the training system, as well as the introduction of innovative methods in the educational process of customs and border agencies. The Consortium also facilitates the exchange of teachers between the beneficiary agencies. To carry out the exchange, annual cooperation plans are being developed indicating specific topics and forms of implementation (e- learning, on-site training, study trips).
