China has built a railway station connecting the country's past and future

A train station has been built in China that connects the country's past and future.
The ambitious project was implemented by a large construction company MAD Architects. The image of the old Jiaxing Railway Station, which was built in 1907 in the South-East of China, was taken as the basis for the new transport hub.
The company's architects carefully studied old photographs of this railway station, the building of which was destroyed and reconstructed several times, and familiarized themselves with the preserved documentation.
Next, a project was developed, as a result of which the building resembles the original as much as possible, but at the same time remains ultramodern. About 21,000 bricks made from the mud of a local lake were used in the construction process.
Landscape design specialists were also involved in the work, through whose efforts over one and a half thousand trees were planted, artificial hills resembling hills were created.
Cultural institutions and retail outlets will be located near the station. In order to reduce energy consumption, solar panels and a lot of glass were used in the construction of the new station for lighting needs.
The building has already been built and is located next to the main building, which is located almost completely underground. They are separated by a glass facade separating the past and the future.
All transport and commercial functions have been moved underground, and the number of lines has been increased from five to six.
According to experts, in 2025 the passenger traffic of the new station will reach 5,280 thousand people per year.
