Uzbekistan is interested in having its own fleet in the Caspian Sea

Uzbekistan is interested in having its own vessels in the Caspian Sea, which would contribute to the growth of transportation along the Trans-Caspian route. This was stated by the director of the Center for the Study of Problems of Transport and Logistics Development at the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan Bekzod Kholmatov.
"Our country is interested in creating its own fleet in the Caspian Sea. Its own fleet would be of great importance for Uzbekistan as a country with no direct access to the sea," he said.
According to him, Tashkent is ready to cooperate with other countries in this matter.
"Now we are working on the construction of our own terminal in the Baku port, which is a kind of basis for this initiative. In addition, agreements with Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in the field of shipping will allow us to quickly resolve all issues on the agenda," he said.
On August 8, Baku hosted a round table on the topic "Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan: new horizons of cooperation", which was attended by representatives of the Uzbek Ministry of Transport, who proposed the introduction of an electronic exchange of permit forms "E-Permit", which will facilitate cargo transportation by road. Also, the Uzbek side proposes to work out the issue of construction of warehouse infrastructure in the port of Baku, construction and repair of railway rolling stock of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan is one of the two countries in the world that belongs to the category of double locked countries. This means that they border exclusively with countries that also do not have access to the World Ocean. The second such State is Liechtenstein.
