ADB to finance social protection and gender mainstreaming systems in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has entered the list of countries where projects on the development of inclusive and sustainable social protection systems will be implemented by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). $1.1 million will be allocated for these purposes, Trend reports.
The list includes countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including five Central Asian republics, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Indonesia, Pakistan and others.
"Technical assistance will help developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank to develop and expand social protection measures through capacity building, knowledge generation and project development support," the ADB noted.
In addition, Turkmenistan, along with Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia, has become a country in which ADB will launch a new subproject to create mechanisms necessary for gender mainstreaming. Such a measure is expected to lead to strengthening the capacity of state institutions to integrate gender aspects in the development of programs and the preparation of gender information at the national level. $350 thousand will be allocated for these purposes.
