The fifth anniversary of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care has become an opportunity for a profound reflection on the journey. On March 28, National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the city of Arkadag to hold a meeting of the Foundation's Board and personally assess the fruits of this humanitarian mission, which has quickly become a national treasure.
The Foundation's history is, first and foremost, a story of children restored to health. As Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs at the Foundation, noted, since its founding, 758 surgeries have been performed, and nearly 2,500 children have undergone comprehensive rehabilitation at the specialized Children's Center in Arkadag. The uniqueness of this treatment process lies in its delicate balance: innovative, state-of-the-art medical technologies meet the healing power of the local natural environment, creating an ideal environment for the recovery of young patients. A tangible contribution to the technical advancement of Russian healthcare has been the donation of high-tech hemodialysis machines from leading global manufacturers to the country's pediatric departments, which has fundamentally changed the recovery rates of children with severe pathologies.
Over the past five years, the Foundation's international prestige has expanded far beyond the region. The final document of last year's Arkadag conference, dedicated to child protection, was recognized as an official document of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, having been translated into all the working languages of the Organization. The geography of cooperation now encompasses key global centers—from Monaco to Qatar and China. Signed memoranda with UNICEF, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation of China confirm that the Turkmen model of philanthropy is recognized by the global community as an effective and transparent system of social protection.
However, the organization's activities are not limited to medicine. Humanity, as understood by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, is a comprehensive category. This is why the Foundation is currently modernizing the Bazar Amanov State Children's Library and strengthening the facilities of the Jahan Creative Center. Caring for the future generation is unthinkable without the spiritual foundation laid by the Council of Elders at the Foundation, which safeguards the continuity of generations and national values. The construction of a mosque in the Azerbaijani city of Fuzuli, a gift from the Foundation, will also symbolize this spiritual unity, embodying the triumph of the ideals of good neighborliness.
The integration of science and industry remains an important development vector. The Arkadag medical cluster, which products have already won international gold medals for quality, is becoming the Foundation's technological arm. The construction of new facilities at the Arkadag medical cluster will provide children not only with treatment but also with high-quality, specialized nutrition produced in-house.
Concluding the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that behind every figure in the report lies a higher goal: the right of every child to a happy and full life. In Turkmenistan, where "children make a home," charity has ceased to be simply an act of assistance and has become a systemic state policy, where high technology and innovation serve the most ancient and noble human impulse—compassion. The upcoming celebrations in Arkadag will be more than just a holiday, but a showcase of the strength of a generation that will grow up healthy, strong, and capable of furthering the glory of their homeland.
