OpenAI has released a major update to its ChatGPT chatbot, integrating the voice mode directly into the main dialogue window. Now all interaction with the AI — voice communication, transcription, and receiving responses — takes place without interrupting the chat, making the experience more natural and user-friendly.
According to the developers, the new feature literally merges the voice mode with the main text mode. Users no longer need to minimize the dialogue or switch tabs to move between modes.
The updated, unified mode offers several improvements:
• Real-time transcription: ChatGPT can display the transcription of your voice conversation directly within the chat interface.
• Visualization: In real time, the AI can show visual elements such as images and maps while providing a voice response.
• Dynamic dialogue: The user can interrupt the AI at any moment to ask a new question or request clarification, making the interaction closer to a natural human conversation.
An important point is that this update is not mandatory. If users prefer the traditional interface where voice and text modes are separate, they can easily revert to the old version. To do so, simply go to the settings and enable the “Separate mode” toggle.
